Er wurde wegen des Vorwurfs eines versuchten Staatsstreichs festgenommen und kam in Untersuchungshaft.Die Anhänger des früheren Dorfschullehrers gingen daraufhin auf die Straße, bei Zusammenstößen mit der Polizei kamen rund zwei Dutzend Menschen ums Leben.
